AFFORDABLE SENIOR APARTMENTS AND ADULT DAY CARE TO BE BUILT IN IRONDEQUOIT

Providence Housing to provide 70 units of affordable housing for seniors 55+.

IRONDEQUOIT, NY – Providence Housing Development Corporation and St. Ann’s Community are excited to announce that construction began in February 2018, for Durand Senior Apartments, a new affordable housing development for seniors age 55+, to be located at 4225 and 4250 Culver Road, Rochester, NY 14622. A groundbreaking ceremony took place on Friday, February 2, 2018, with executives from Providence Housing, St. Ann’s Community, Irondequoit Town officials including Town Supervisor Dave Seeley, Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul, Assemblyman Joseph Morelle, Senator Rich Funke, Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo, and representatives from New York State Homes & Community Renewal and Greater Rochester Housing Partnership. Durand Senior Apartments will feature 65 one- and five two-bedroom apartments. The premises will also house St. Ann’s Adult Day Service at Durand, which will provide medical and social adult day care services to the community at large. The apartments and adult day care facility will be built at the locations of the former St. Salome Church and former Durand United Church of Christ, adjacent to St. Salome Apartments, another senior property developed and managed by Providence Housing.

“There is a large need for affordable housing and services for seniors in Monroe and the surrounding counties,” said Mark Greisberger, Executive Director for Providence Housing, “Durand Senior Apartments will enable 70+ seniors to find a new, safe and affordable housing option in a great neighborhood and town that provides numerous programs for seniors.”

McRae, President and CEO of St. Ann’s Community adds, “St. Ann’s Adult Day Services offer safe, supervised care and social opportunities for seniors while their caregivers are at work or handling other responsibilities. Having a program at Durand is a huge bonus and will benefit the entire community.”

Durand Senior Apartments will offer seven fully wheelchair accessible units, three units for hearing/visually impaired, and all apartments are handicap visitable or adaptable. Apartments come with a fully equipped kitchen, including Energy Star appliances, a spacious living/dining area, central air conditioning, individually controlled heat and electric, off-street parking, emergency call system, Intercom entry and elevator access. There will be laundry facilities on each floor, a community room, and outdoor courtyard for residents to enjoy. Applications will be available in July. St. Ann’s Adult Day Service at Durand will offer medical and social day services to eligible seniors.
